Reimagining the Building Process
Our journey with the Delaney project starts with our client in a place that many homeowners know all too well: frustration. Their previous home, located just down the road, had been a new build as well. But on that project, she didn’t work with an interior designer, and while the house was lovely in many ways, she felt like her voice and her family’s voice hadn’t been heard during the building process. From finishes to layouts, they were left with choices they regretted and a space that never truly felt like their own.
When it came time to build again, our client knew this experience needed to be different. So, she decided to seek out interior design services.
She discovered Welcome Home Styling on Instagram and was drawn to the classic yet approachable aesthetic that defined our interior design firm. From our first consultation, it was clear that this time around, she was ready to work with an interior design company that would come alongside her, understand her vision, and make sure her family’s home looked stunning and also felt deeply personal and practical.
With two growing boys, it was essential to balance sophistication with livability. During our initial design meetings, our client shared her hopes and dreams for the new home. She wanted it to feel elevated yet welcoming, rich in texture and contrast, and above all, well thought out. No overlooked corners. No rushed decisions. No “we’ll just deal with it later” moments.
From the beginning, we prioritized a collaborative approach. Our interior designers created 2D renderings and we met at the builder’s showroom to go over samples, so our client could see how we planned to bring the vision to life. We worked with the builders, providing all documents or selections made, making sure to stay on the builder’s timeline.
The outcome is a home that feels intentional and customized. It’s not a boring builder-grade home crafted for the masses, but a home that was crafted specifically for our client and her family.

The heart of this home is undoubtedly the kitchen. With soaring ceilings, layers of contrast, and a blend of light and dark finishes, this space is both showstopping and functional.
Custom cabinetry in a rich, bold black anchors the kitchen with a sense of drama, while natural wood accents add warmth and approachability. Crisp white quartz countertops offer durability and a clean, luxurious look, complemented by gold hardware and elegant lighting that ties it all together.
A central island stretches across the space with ample seating, perfect for family breakfasts or entertaining friends. The pendant lights above are visually striking and practical, adding a refined touch without feeling fussy.
A few open shelves add styling opportunities while keeping the space airy and organized. And yes, there’s a butler’s pantry with plenty of storage, ensuring the kitchen stays beautiful while the space overall is still functional and livable.
Bold Yet Balanced Living Spaces
The open-concept living area flows effortlessly from the kitchen, maintaining the same sense of contrast and cohesion. Custom, arched built-ins frame a sleek electric fireplace, creating a warm focal point that feels both contemporary and classic.
A large sectional anchors the space, offering plenty of room for the family to relax together. Soft neutrals in the furniture allow the architectural elements and material choices to shine, while natural textures like wood and linen add a grounded, organic feel.
One of our favorite interior design decisions in the entire living area was the incorporation of a dramatic dining nook with monochrome wainscoting. Painted in a rich, moody black, this cozy corner features a round table surrounded by sculptural white chairs and a modern chandelier that adds another sculptural moment above. The contrast makes the space feel intimate and luxurious while still being welcoming for family meals.
Bathrooms That Bring the Spa to Your Home
The home features several bathrooms, each with its own distinct design style yet unified through thoughtful materials and a consistent sense of elegance.
The primary bathroom feels like stepping into a high-end boutique hotel. Beautiful tilework add texture throughout, while the gold fixtures and dramatic pendant lighting create warmth and sophistication. A freestanding soaking tub sits beneath a statement chandelier, inviting relaxation. Dual vanities provide ample space and storage, and their placement beneath hanging mirrors and pendants makes the entire space feel bright, open, and luxurious.
In the boys’ bathrooms, we introduced darker tones and playful natural textures through bold tilework, vanities, and sleek black finishes. These spaces are durable and cool enough to withstand the growth from kids to teenagers, and timeless enough to still blend seamlessly with the rest of the home.
One of our favorite bold moments comes in the powder room: deep-toned walls, a rich wood accent tile, and a unique curved mirror above the vanity. It’s a little gem of a room that surprises and wows every guest who opens the door.
A Laundry Room with Personality
Often overlooked in interior design, the laundry room in this home is anything but basic. We used a cheerful yet elevated wallpaper in a botanical print to bring personality into the space. Mixed cabinetry in natural wood and white gives the room warmth and a feeling of balance, while a patterned tile floor adds whimsy without overwhelming the senses.
Practical touches like extended countertops, integrated storage, and a thoughtful layout make this room a joy to use and not just another space for chores.
Lighting That Sets the Mood
Throughout the home, lighting played a starring role. From the globe chandelier above the freestanding tub to the sculptural pendants in the kitchen and bathrooms, each fixture was chosen to add style, warmth, and personality.
Layered lighting was a must, from ambient recessed lighting to statement pendants and sconces, each space has the flexibility to feel bright and functional during the day and cozy and inviting in the evening.
This careful curation of lighting elevates the design at every level and enhances the lived-in beauty of each room.
