They moved to Florida from California and, with three kids, it was essential to create a space that combined sophistication, comfort, and functionality. Although we started with a model home, the finished space is a blend of style and personality that looks stunning and tells the Rega family’s story. We are excited to share this top-to-bottom home renovation project.
The Challenge: Personalizing a Model Home
The home had good bones that set us up for success with an open layout and a lot of natural light. However, the house overall was very generic and we needed it to reflect their vibrant personalities and family lifestyle.
We chose to look at the house as a blank slate, ready to be enhanced with new paint and wall treatments, custom finishes and fixtures, and extra features to aid in functionality and style. Our main goals for the project were to infuse new life and style into the home, personalize the space for the parents and children, and incorporate practical solutions to support their lifestyle.
The family’s design preferences leaned toward timeless sophistication with an element of modernity. This balance allowed us to create a home that was elegant yet approachable for a busy family. As renovation interior designers, we were able to take a functional space and elevate it with a custom look that feels timeless yet distinctly theirs.
The Home Renovation Project: Concept to Completion
The project began in January and was completed in July. It was a six-month journey that saw the home from a coastal model home to a custom modern transformation.
Interior Design Consultation
During the initial consultation, the Welcome Home Styling team listened closely to style preferences and functional needs. They are still a young family, so the home needed to continue to grow with them in the coming years. This made versatility paramount in every room.
To ensure a clear path to design success, we created detailed digital designs, keeping the homeowners involved in every stage of the process. This collaborative approach not only helped bring the homeowners’ vision to life but also ensured that every decision was tailored to meet their needs and preferences. It gave them a stake in the process, which gave them confidence and excitement about the progression through the six-month journey.
We also paid special attention to ensuring the home’s aesthetic carried a cohesive flow, connecting one room to the next while allowing each space to have its own unique character.

The entire house was painted with a curated selection of colors including soft tones, neutrals, and subtle earth tones. A breathtaking custom built-in became the focal point of the living room. The design featured a quartz slab, sleek linear fireplace, and custom niches with LED lighting that added decorative style and functionality. The sophisticated upgrade transformed the living room into a show-stopping space great for entertaining or relaxing as a family. The use of quartz introduced a sleek and polished look while the niches provided practical space for showcasing decor without feeling clunky in the room.
Office Space
Recognizing the need for versatility, a custom-built murphy bed with integrated storage was added to the office space. This clever addition allowed the space to function as a productive home office and, when needed, a comfortable guest bedroom. Thoughtful storage spaces kept the room tidy and functional without compromising on style.
Primary Suite
To create a luxurious, hotel-inspired retreat, the primary bedroom received textured wallpaper, updated paint, and a sleek sliding door to the bathroom hallway for privacy. Soft, layered textiles and statement lighting enhanced the serene atmosphere, turning the bedroom into a relaxing escape. The furniture from the bed to the chairs was made to feel plush yet polished.
Kid’s Rooms
Each child’s room was personalized with fresh paint and playful wall treatments that reflected their unique personalities while supporting the overall design style of the home. Storage solutions were incorporated to ensure the rooms were both beautiful and practical. Functional furniture ensured the spaces would adapt as the children grow.
Furnishings, Lighting, and Final Touches
To complete the home renovation, Welcome Home Styling focused on elegant furnishings, bespoke details, and high-end lighting fixtures that brought individuality to every corner of the home. This included elegant chandeliers for the primary suite and girls’ bedrooms, a new fixture for the office, a sculptural piece for the entryway, new island pendants, and a modern candelabra style chandelier for the dining room. We wanted each lighting fixture to speak to the personality of the family without compromising on their functionality.
Each lighting choice was made to serve its illumination purpose and complement the broader design of the space. Thoughtful layering of light ensured that every room could transition seamlessly from day to night.
Textiles and Accessories
Soft window treatments, unique rugs, and decorative accents added warmth and interest to each room, creating a polished finished look. Carefully selected pillows, linens, and art pieces provided layers of texture and personality that tied each space together. Accessories were also chosen to reflect the family’s personality, blending modern decor with personal touches that made the house feel more like home.
Outdoor Patio
The back patio, just like the interior of the home, was a blank slate. The space now includes a comfortable yet sleek dining area, cozy conversation space with an elegant fire pit, and ample space to lounge around the pool. Durable and stylish furniture was a must with unpredictable Florida weather. The Welcome Home Styling team was able to find furniture pieces that provided function and durability without sacrificing on beauty for the design.

We couldn’t choose just one built-in, because they were all unique and spectacular in their own way. The living room niches nestled alongside the quartz slab and the wood paneled murphy bed with storage are two standout highlights.
Entryway
The entryway was entirely transformed with a stunning light fixture, modern metal railing and a paneled accent wall on the staircase. It gives an unforgettable first impression upon entry into the home.
Loft Area
A family favorite, the loft was converted from a large empty space into a versatile room with an accent wall and painted ceiling. This design created a modern media room feel while maintaining the cozy and elegant atmosphere the family was looking for.
Outdoor Retreat
The outdoor area was another showstopper with its thoughtful layout, comfortable furniture, and serene poolside environment. The patio became a natural extension of the home’s interior, which is perfect for entertaining guests or enjoying quiet evenings creating lifelong memories with family.
